1. Status, scope and controller

PetPulse is in internal testing. This notice describes the current design and intended processing; it is not yet the final public-release notice. It will be reviewed when the production analytics, crash-reporting and subscription providers and their processing locations are confirmed.

PetPulse and Battlement Software are operated by Sam Kelly in England and Wales. Battlement Software is not currently a registered company or a separate legal entity. Sam Kelly is the controller for personal information processed through PetPulse.

PetPulse is intended for adults coordinating household pet care and eventual international availability. It is an organisational tool, not a veterinary service or a substitute for professional veterinary advice, and it is not intended to hold human medical records.

2. Information PetPulse is designed to handle

  • Account information: name, email address, authentication records, profile settings and account status.
  • Household information: household name, invitations, membership, roles and activity history.
  • Pet and care information: pet names, species, optional photos, care logs, notes, routines, medication details and pet-health information you choose to add.
  • Device and service information: operating system, app version, synchronisation status, random installation or update identifiers, notification preferences, push token, usage events and technical or crash diagnostics.
  • Subscription information: product, entitlement and transaction status supplied by the eventual store or subscription provider. PetPulse is not intended to receive full payment-card details.
  • Support information: messages and diagnostic details you send when requesting help.

Other members of a household can see information shared within that household, including who logged or changed an item.

3. Why information is used

Information is used to create and secure accounts; provide shared household features; synchronise care history and routines; preserve offline-safe changes; send requested service notifications; manage free and subscription features; prevent abuse; diagnose crashes; understand and improve service performance; respond to support; and meet legal obligations.

Core processing is necessary to provide the service requested. Security, reliability and limited service-improvement processing may rely on legitimate interests where appropriate. Optional device permissions remain under device controls. Optional promotional messages will be sent only with the user’s specific consent and will always offer a way to opt out.

4. Providers and international processing

PetPulse does not sell personal information or use household data for third-party advertising. The current design uses or plans to use:

  • Supabase for authentication, database, storage, realtime and server-side infrastructure, with a European hosting region planned;
  • Expo for app builds and updates and, where enabled, push-token and notification delivery processing; and
  • Apple and Google for app distribution, device notification services and potential subscription processing.

Crash reporting, product analytics, subscription management and any additional production providers are not yet finalised. They will be named here, with their purposes, before public testing or release.

Providers may process information outside the UK. Where UK law requires it, appropriate contractual or legal transfer safeguards will be used. Information may also be disclosed where law requires it or where necessary to protect users, rights and the service.

5. Your choices and household controls

You will be able to change profile, pet, routine and notification settings in the app. Device permissions for photos and notifications can be withdrawn in system settings. Household owners can manage membership. Leaving or being removed from a household ends access to that household’s current data, but does not erase legitimate shared care records needed by remaining members.

Account deletion will be available inside the app and can also be requested through the website or support. Marketing consent can be withdrawn at any time without affecting service notifications.

6. Retention and deletion

Account and service information is kept while an account is active. Following a verified deletion request, active personal information that is no longer needed will be deleted or de-identified within 30 days, unless law, security or an active claim requires longer retention. Encrypted backups may persist until they cycle out.

Shared care records may remain available to other household members after one member leaves or deletes an account. Where appropriate, the departed member’s identity will be removed while the household record remains. Support correspondence may be retained for up to 24 months and privacy or legal correspondence for up to 3 years.

7. Security

PetPulse uses encrypted network connections, secure authentication, private household access controls and database row-level security. Sensitive local credentials are stored using the device’s secure storage where supported. No service can promise absolute security, so please use a unique password, protect your device and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

8. Age requirement

PetPulse accounts are intended only for people aged 18 or over. PetPulse is not directed to children, and children should not create accounts. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.

9. Your data-protection rights

Depending on location and circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict or object to processing, and receive certain information in a portable format. You may withdraw consent where processing relies on it and complain about how information has been handled.

Use the Battlement privacy contact form to make a request. Identity and household relationship may need to be verified. UK users can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office; people elsewhere may have the right to contact their local regulator.

10. Changes and contact

This notice will be updated as PetPulse’s production providers and release markets are finalised. The public-release version will be made available before public accounts are accepted, and material later changes will be made reasonably clear in the app or by email where appropriate.

For privacy questions, use the privacy contact form. For the public website, see the separate website privacy notice.
